Hi, I've got a Aussie '81 244GL with the B23E engine, shame it's auto but 'll change that when I get a donor car. Thing is I don't like fuel inject (thirsty and gutless), I want to put multi carbs on the engine, not the twin carbs (they'd do for a 2while) but 4 X mikunis or keihins or similar.
I know it's gonna be a pain knocking up inlet manifolds and sorting out fuel pressure and return etc (stuff the emission gear), but I like the way slide carburetuers work , each carb has variable main jet mixture and runs on idle mix at low RPM's or full open throat with no restriction in the ventury (except for one skinny mainjet needle) when you want to go. Setup well and vacuum balanced I reckon they give a brilliant fuel mix - power and economy.
Anyhow was just wondering if anyone else has dabbled in multicarb installation, any pointers would be welcome but the project is that - it's a project and will take some time to nut out. I've had this idea for years and now I've got a Volvo, the B23E engine seems to be a great motor suitable for this. It runs 10:1 comp and loves 98 octane fuel, give it a set of individual throats and it should go like crap and give good economy. Should run pretty damn clean as well, without hoses, wires, sensors, regulators, pumps and catlytics etc.
Call me mad, but should be fun when done.
