Center Support Bearing Bad? 200 1988

I'm getting a whining sound intermittently from the center line of the car of my '88 240 (Automatic). It can be high pitched at times, other times medium-pitched. You can hear it winding down as you slow to a stop. Tranny Fluid was checked recently. Is there a way to check the bearing. Play in the driveshaft? How hard is it to change? Is center support usually replaced also.

Thanks in advance,

-Chris
