transmission leak 200 1988

the transmission on my '88 240gl has been leaking fluid for quite some time. it is really no hassle to top it up with fluid every so often, but i am told that the leaking fluid is ruining the transmission mount and damage to the drivetrain will result if not repaired.

is there anything wrong with just replacing the mount until i'm able to do the full repair? replacing the mount looks pretty easy in the haynes manual and, as is say, i don't mind topping up with a little fluid now and then. is the mount an expensive part? if i do replace the mount, how much fluid leakage can it tolerate before the full job will need to be done?

thanks in advance for your insight.
