no start after overhaul V760- GLE 700 1983

I overhault my 1983 760 GLE engine (V6)

Before i started the overhaul i tried all functions like fuelpump relay and both fuelpumps to be sure that nothing was wrong there.

They worked like a charm.

Engine was starting amazingly well then considering the bad condition she was in ( both headgaskets blown and a bad harness).

That was 2 years ago

I overhault both heads and the electrical harness.

Since 3 months i am trying to restart this car.

Fuelpumps did not receive any current.

I checked the fusebox and found that fuse # 15 did not receive any current and apparently the FPR (fuel pump relay)was bad. Solder connections had become undone.

I Fosterized ( you realy did it Don )the relay without succes.

I bought another one from the wreckers and had to resolder that one also, because it also had bad solder connections. The feet of the relay had become undone from the frame. I tried it in the car and only the fuelpump in the tank worked. I also managed to repair the first bad relay.

The main fuel pump was stuck !

I took the pump out , reversed the current on it and hooked it up on the bench like it should be. It worked fine on the bech.

Instead of putting the mainfuel pump back i hooked up a lightbulb.

I started the car and the lightbulb lit.(all conditions were fullfilled

i thought)

So time to put back the main fuel pump and get the car started.

Wrong ! Bypassing the relay resulted in a working main fuel pump though.

There was no current to the fuel pump relay this time from the high tension unit. (one of the conditions for the relay to do it's duty)

There is no current to be measured on the high tension unit what so ever.

The ignition lock works ok.

What is the next control strategy i can follow to get current where it is needed ?

Your help is surely appreciated

Thanks in advance.

John
