Buying a 89 740 GL 700 1989

I just sold my 93 RX-7 Twin Turbo (wimper).

I need a car that will allow me to save some money for a while. There is a local 1 owner 89 740 GL automatic for sale for $2500. Not perfect but looked ok. This will be my only car for several months.

I'm taking the car to a mechanic. Are these long lasting durable Volvo models?

Any advice?
