Re: B-30 Rod Swap 140-160

B30F engines were made in both 6-bolt and 8-bolt varieties.

8-bolt rods will not work on a 6-bolt crank, although both

use the same main bearings.

6-bolt and 8-bolt refers to the flywheel mounting.

One quick way to tell is that main and bellhousing bolts on

8-bolt engines are M12 1.75. On 6-bolt engines mains are 1/2"-13 UNC

and bellhousing bolts are 7/16"-14 UNC. The 7/16" bolts will screw

loosely into the M12 holes but not vice versa.
