Possible Tranny Change 700 1986

If I do decide to change my tranny it will be to standard (m46) and I need some help here I know the m46 comes in 2 styles Hydraulic Clutch and Cable clutch which is best??

My mom has a 86 740 TI with a hydo clutch on her m46 and it shifts smoothly

I have a 83 240 GL (in mint shape if i may add) and it has a m46 cable clutch and i find that hydo shifts smoother.

Personally i think hydraulic is better just wanna get some other opinions
