1988 740 electrical probs 700 1988

i am at the end of my rope. i LOVE my volvo. my dad gave it to me when i moved to california. i re-upholstered the ceiling with zebra fur. i painted beautiful murals all over the interior. i ever made a purple fur jungle themed dashboard cover. it is complete with wiggling hawaiian men and moveable lizards and everything. i am on the verge of giving it up for a subaru.

there is something seriously wrong with the electrical system. there is a leak that no one can find. my mechanic said it is just the swedish gremlins acting up. whatever it is...i wake up in the morning and my car won't start. if it sits for more than about 14 hours it is dead. i already figured out that i can't leave the switch on the "defrost" setting or a fan will run even after i turn the car off and drain the battery. i used to be able to use my power-windows and directional signals when the car was off, but that stopped about a week ago. the electrical idiosyncracies come and go daily, but something is continually draining my battery and i can't find it. i don't want to have to get a subaru, but i am SO FRUSTRATED. and i want a brand new car that has NOT been touched by ford.

can anyone help me out here?
