Geroge Harrison and Volvos? 200 82

First, our thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends of George Harrison. He passed way too young. I must say, as I've grown older, I can see a wider gap in his and my ideas on many topics, but like many of us, I was - and still am - very influenced by his music. Funny, but I still hear "Beatle" harmonies and chord progressions in pop music today.

But wait - there is a Volvo slant to this. Tonight on VH1, there was a replay of an interview a guy called John Fugelsang did with George in 1997. I sort of missed the context, but at one point George was discussing how much more prevelant the culture of India is in the US today than it was in the early 70's. He then made some reference to the demographic group "hippies", saying something to the effect of "Where are all the good hippies now?"

Then the interviewer (John) said, "They're all driving Volvos!"

So there you have it. Maybe "gear fab" doesn't refer to the fabrication of gears after all. Right on, far out, man.

"I look at you all, see the love there that's sleeping, while my guitar gently weeps..." No doubt his guitar IS weeping today. RIP, George.
