wagon rear end options-LSD and ratios 120-130 1967

I've got a friend with a 67 wagon with OD/B18. He wants to either replace his current rear end entirely or get another ring and pinion or even a LS differential. What he has is stock and worn (really?). I don't know symptoms - I'm just trying to get him better informed about what he might do. He already has all the bearings for this rebuild.

What are people's feelings about ratio for a wagon - city and highway driving, but mostly for pleasure - he has a Trooper for hauling stuff.
