Re: Numbers??? ALL

Mustafa -

I know the numbers made sense from 1974 through 1982. Digit #1 was the series, digit #2 was the cylinders, and digit #3 was the door count. I remember seeing a 343 in Scotland back in 1980, and it had 3 doors! Well, one was the hatchback.

In 1983 the logic department went on strike and VoVo made only lettered, like DL, GL, GLT, etc. Much lower cost to not have all that variation. Well, here comes the 700 Series. Back to numbers, but always have the last digit be Zero. The 900 Series made some sense, too. Then they threw out the whole idea, and launched into S40, V70, etc.

Good Luck on the Hair,

Bob
