ok, I just got done removing the tint from the back window, and ammonia did the trick. I would try this first. You have to use alot and put plastic over the glass to alow the ammonia to sink in. I kept spraying, keeping it wet, and let it soak in for 30 min. Then I slowly pulled the film away, and got rid of the extra adhesive with more ammonia. The defroster wires were fine. Good luck! Oh, and that stuff they sell in car stores is just bottled ammonia.
