Heat duct to driver's side floor came off. Help 200 1985

While replacing an instrument light, the small piece of ductwork that leads from the ventilation box to the driver's side floor vent came off. I've been upside down for an hour. I'm not sure if the unattached vent (the one that comes down through the the liner) is supposed to fit inside the ventilation box, or whether it is supposed to fit on the outside of the little lip that protrudes from the ventilation box. I can't get it to do either! Some help, please
