car won't start and need ASAP ALL 1983

I have a 1983 240 4cyl. It ran well until last week . My son ran the tank to empty, filled w/ 87 octane gas. car sat for threes days in very rainy foggy weather. My wife took it out, it started fine, got 1/4 mi. from home, and it died. I have replaced plugs, (not fouled) have good spark, no blown fuses, can get it to turn over with starting fluid, but it spits and dies in short order. Where can I check to see if the fuel pump is working, and how can I access the fuel line if necessary? ANY ideas greatly appreciated.
