Rough running, stalling out 700 1985

I have a 1985 740 GLE. Approx 240,000 miles. Car idles roughly when cold, cuts out at highway speeds for a split second, cuts out occasionally when accelerating. The car also sometimes stalls out after moving away from stops signs at red light signals. I can put up with the rough idle and cutting out when on the highway. What I have a problem with is the conking out at traffic lights and stop signs especially when I have a long line of cars behind me. Any suggestions?
