coolant temp sensor 140-160 75

help! i am having a severe over-rich condition and i am almost sure it is the coolant temperature sensor (sensor # 2)in my d-jet system.my problem is that i need to get it home (20 miles). i barely made it to work this morning with it running so rich. can i use a resistor in place of the switch? or just short it out? would this be too lean?i have a whole herd of volvos but i have converted all that were f.i. to carbs.i want to leave this one f.i. if i can for a learning experience. any good sources on buying a new sensor? also unrelated does anyone know which way to turn the knob on the computer for rich or lean idle? thanks , tim strickland.
