Which years can parts interchange? 200 86

Please forgive my ignorance on this subject, my normal obsession is Volkswagens. A year ago one of my wife's friends gave me her 86 240 DL sedan. The car has lived a life of hell and needs to be retired. I would like to get a station wagon and use the sedan for parts. My 240 has the B230F motor and 4 speed + O.D. manual tranny. What span of wagon model years used this engine and tranny setup so I can use these (plus other) parts if needed? Also, in this span of years, are there any particular year(s) that I should stay away from? Are there any year(s) that are better than the rest? Any information would be useful.

Thanks,

Erich Elmer
