I have had the same problem. I got an 5 bar oil gauge out of a 84 turbo but was unable to get the sender. Advice was that VDO senders would work. So I bought the VDO sender that I was told would fit. Turns out that sender I bought (360-006)has a 10mm x 1.0 thread size and the car has a 14mm x 1.25 thread size port. So I also was told to get an adapter. I have hunted everywhere including Autozone and specialty fittings supply houses and no one I can find sells an adapter that goes from 10mm x 1.0 to 14mm x 1.25. So I guess I wasted the money on the sender ($37) and now I will have to get the sender kit from the dealer at $87. The VDO 14mm sender at egauges is about the same cost as the dealer. Let me know if you find a solution. I am finding out that many times it is a lot less headache to go ahead and buy OEM from the dealer.
