Re: knock sensor sensitivity 700 89

Forget about the ECU "adapting" - you should have LH 2.2 system and it's not the learning type.

One of my hose failures was a pourous (read; no tear) inner wall allowing air to blow through the layers out a small slit on the bottom side of the outer wrap next to the clamp. It was the over-n-under hose at the throttle body and boy was that leak fun to locate.

The two places I'll bet you haven't looked are;

Flange bolts on the bypass valve used with the Garrett turbo (I've also had the elbow part of the air hose going to this valve tear). A half turn loose and the gasket will leak under pressure.

The intercooler. It's built like the radiator with neoprene gaskets where the plastic tanks meet the aluminum core. They can literally "blow a gasket".

As far as the AMM, I have found that deposits on the wire (yeah, I know it's supposed to be self-cleaning) can change operation slightly. I have washed the venturi, screens, stand-offs and wire with Gumout on a few AMMs and felt a noticeable improvement in a couple of cases [this means same AMM back into the same car with no other service]. Never physically clean the wire as it is fragile and the heart of the unit.
