automatic park sensor bypass and succesful auto to standard conversion

It sounds like you may be mixing up your circuits. I converted my 1990 780T from AW71 to M46, and I was able to just connect those two wires together. However, keep in mind that the reverse lights also take their cue from the shifter lever position.

Crack open the "PRND21" display and take a look at which wires are connected when the levers are in which position. You'll need to extend the reverse light wires down below the car to the top panel of the manual transmission.
