Vacuum Pump control 700 1987

The heater vacuum pump on my 1987 765t has been starting up, will run for about 5-10 sec. and then will shup off for about 15, and it did this all the time. I went to a junk yard looking for a replacement, but could not find one. I was looking at the pump, and i believe that i shorted out the control to it. Now when i run the acc, all that i get is the blower in the dash going faintly, and the pump does not run at all. Is the control to the pump in the acc, or is there a separate one somewhere else in the car. Thanks

Sean
