(non-technical post) ATTN Canadian Bricksters; Inexpensive parts for DIYers

Q#1: I bought a 1990 745 gle 16 valve last summer and plan to spend about $1000 per year on routine stuff + tidying it up. Last summer the a/c went so in the first 6 months I am in $2500. Hope to (ie insist on) dropping back to the planned $1000 per year.

Q#2: timing is not critical since it is a third car until I finish fixing.

Live in Burlington, Ontario. Hope you can get something going.
