clutch cable adjusted all the way 'in' after replacing clutch 200 1987

I just replaced the clutch in my 1987 240 and had to adjust the clutch cable as far "in" as it would go, that is, tightening (raise pedal). The clutch seems to work fine, but I figure something is not quite right here. It is the original cable.

Possible clue: When I had the transmission out I noticed the release arm doesn't pull back all the way. It sits about in the middle of it's range of motion. I don't know if that's the way it's supposed to be or not. The release arm doesn't look like it is bent but I could be wrong, or it could have nothing to do with the release arm.

BTW, I've been planning this clutch job since last spring, thanks to everyone who helped with my occasional questions.

Terry
