Correct belt path for 940T 900 1993

I need to replace my alt. belt on my '93 940T (sedan) and the guys at the local auto parts store spec'd a belt which is, like, way too short - I can only make it fit by cranking the alt. all the way down and stretching the belt on the pulley (outer pulley) from the crankshaft pulley. Other possible routes (not with this belt) are crankshaft to water pump to alt. & back around to c'shaft OR straight down to A/C (I don't think so). My Chilton's manual has no diagram for such (no big surprise). Do any of you know the proper belt path and proper belt spec.

Thanx for any help!

Sam
