turbocharging a 240 200 1978

has any put one of the volvo turbochargers onto a volvo non-turbo engine? i was rummaging through a local junkyard and saw a nice volvo turbo (i forgot the model), looked mid-eighties-ish and i had the wild idea to take the turbocharger and intercooloer off of it and put it on my 240. someone told me this would be a time-consuming and complicated procedure (have to get a new distributor and etc.) and might not be a great idea on such an old car, but even though the car is 24 years old, it is in very good shape at only 143k miles. is this still a bad idea? has anyone ever done this and could give me some hints and results?
