Water in my trunk!! 700 1986

Darius, you touched on a subject that I recently learned all about. I was having water in my trunk after it rained, and I couldn't find the source. It drove me nuts until I pulled up on the drain tube coming out of the antenna housing going through the wheel tub. It was plugged and was filled with algae water. The bottom of the antenna housing (a black body which is actually a gearbox) was filled with dirt and water. Rain water is supposed to drain down along the antenna mast, through the housing, and out the drain tube. When the drain tube gets plugged, water and dirt collect in the gearbox and cause failure of the nylon gears. Believe me ... I know.

The motor still works great and the mast raises and lowers just fine. The gear that failed is used to shut off the motor when the mast reaches the end of its travel. Actually, I'm lucky the damage wasn't worse.
