Chevy Alternator swap 700 1987

A couple of days ago, I noticed a faint glowing of my warning lights. I initally thought that my Alt. had come loose (again). When i checked under the hood, all looked fine - then the car wouldn't start. After I had it jump started, I checked my voltages - 10.5V at the Batt and Alt @ 1000 and 2500 rpm.
Needing the car running ASAP, I took an Alt and brackets out of a mid 80's Chevy truck and replaced the OEM Volvo Alt. Everything seems to be working fine now. Is there any problem with leaving the Chevy Alt in ??

Thanks in advance
