What is the diffrence between Gross weight and Curb Weight? 200 1990

I read this in my owners manual:

Curb weight (depending on type)
2934-3009 lbs (1331-1365 kg) Sedan
3073-3115 lbs (1394-1413 kg) Wagon

Gross vehicle weight (GVW)
4030 lbs (1830 kg) Sedan
4300 lbs (1950 kg) Wagon

I thought curb weight was the weight of the vehicle by itself filled with all fluids, and no occupants. If so, then what is GVW? ... and how is it determined?
