heater hoses -- how to remove/replace? 700 1989

Wow, thanks for the great info (btw this is not a turbo). I am definitely getting a Nissens 3-row all-metal radiator, along with new water pump, all new hoses, new heater control valve, new overflow tank and screw-on top thingy. Most of this stuff (except the water pump) is original and I feel like I'm on borrowed time.

Another question... seems like I remember in the 240 that there were some heater hoses inside the car, in the center console, leading up to the heater core which I imagine was buried deep inside there somewhere. Is that also the case in the 740, or do the under-hood heater hoses connect directly to the heater core right at the firewall?
