Water leak in tail light enclosure 200 1990

I have this problem on both by 240 and 740 sedans.

I asked my favorite Volvo mechanic the solution. He said there were three.

1. Try and seal the damn thing. (rarely works)
2. Buy a NEW one. (always works but is expensive)
3. drill a small (1/8") hole in the bottom of the lens so it drains outside and forget about it. (always works and is cheap)

I went with number three and have never had another problem with them.
