whining blower motor 700 1985

brickers:

so, I had my blower motor replaced about a month or so back, and since then I it has been operating almost flawlessly. No more overheated #16 (?) fuses, heat comes gushing out within 5 minutes of starting the car.

However, periodically my blower motor will kind of whine as it operates, with the noise becoming more pronounced as the setting increases. My father originally solved this temporarily with a swift whack to the dash; not the most scientific of approaches, but it worked. However, it has now returned and shows no sign of going away, swift hits or not.

The noise sounds like the old "engine whine from the AM radio" I remember when I was a kid, but its coming from the blow motor itself. Anyone know what this might be and if I can fix it somehow? Not a showstopper, but definitely annoying ambient noise that I could live without.

Thanks,
Rick
