Q: What is the correct way to start the 240?

My guess is that your fuel lines are being emptied through the night. When you turn the key to the on position, it turns on the fuel pump for a moment. This brings your fuel back up to the rail, to the injectors, and builds up enough pressure in the line. If you did it twice, you'd get even more of a head start on getting the fuel line back up to an optimal state.

A tiny leak will cause these conditions, allowing the the fuel line to depressurize over long periods of time.
