missing link in archives 200 1988

In a post from the Brickboard Archives titled "Fuel delivery problems?[ALL/1988] posted by Dave Stevens on Wednesday, 6 January 1998, at 6:34 a.m.," there is a link to a protocol for bypassing the fuel pump relay to detect if it's bad, but the link is dead. Can anyone fill me in on this?

My '88 240DL wagon is intermittently failing to turn over. Seems to coincide with colder temperatures. I changed out the dist. cap, rotor and wires, then checked & cleaned the fuses and connections that have to do with fuel delivery. Listened for the fuel pumps when the car happened to be working but couldn't hear anything over the din of an exhaust system that needs to be replaced (next paycheck).

If I understand correctly, the relay is the small white box above the front seat passenger's right foot.

Any help would be appreciated.
