Master Cylinder - Serviceable? 200 1981

Model 244
Carburetor engine
Non Turbo
2.1 Liter engine
Manual transmission

Bad pedal travels excessively especially when going downhill. I've read the archive and 700/900 FAQ and established that this could be a master cylinder problem.

While the archive and the FAQ have load of info, all concerned with replacing the entire master cylinder.

I've read in the Haynes manual that pre-92 models can service/overhaul the cylinder. Is this possible?

If yes, what need to be serviced or replaced?

Also, since this is a manual transmission car, is it necessary to service/bleed the clutch oil as well?

Clutch uses same oil as the brakes?

Please send me all the info you can as this is the first time I'm handling a very important part of the vehicle.

Thanks in advance!

Laozong
