Odd G. Valve behavior 700 1990

Well, I got my G. Valve on my new car tonight, and have been playing with
different boost settings trying to find one I'm comfortable with and that
the car seems to like. Its odd, a lower boost seems to be more powerful on
this car than my old one. Maybe its the automatic, I dunno... on that note,
however, I am getting to like the auto. I just floor it, and wham wham wham
I'm through the gears and accelerating just like that. I have a feeling
it'll be quicker than my m46 car when I'm done with it.

So here's my question:

I set it to around .8 bar, and drove around for a while. Drove into town,
quick blast on the interstate, back up the mountain towards my house.
Stopped at a friend's, let the turbo cool for about a minute, then shut it
off. Started it back up 5 minutes later, and I was back to stock boost all
of a sudden. I could still tell the G. Valve was working to eliminate the
lag, as the turbo was spooling up on a whim, but it wouldn't go above .5
bar.

I got back to my house, and pulled the valve apart about 2 hours later.
Checked for blockage, put it all back together and cleaned the vent hole.
Went out for another test drive, again with the engine warming up. This time
I had no problem making .8 bar, until about 10 minutes into the drive.
Slowly, I could see the boost level drop as I made a few full throttle runs.
Eventually, I could barely get .55 bar. By the time I got home, it was back
to stock again.

What gives? Does the engine warming up have something to do with it? Is
there a hose post-turbo that is leaking as it warms up? Bad G. Valve? I'm
stumped... and really want to fix this...

Thanks for sticking with me through that long post... :)
