spark problem....??? 700 1988

Hello,

I am racking my brain on this one and it's kicking my butt! My car won't start. I have checked spark and cannot seem to get it through the distributor. There is spark at the coil (and the distributer side of the HT lead) but nothing at the plugs or at the distributor side of the plug wires.

This lead me to changing the cap and rotor (and double and triple checking my installation)...but problem persists.

What other than the cap or rotor could be stopping the spark through the distro system? HALL sensor? I have read some info about this sensor, but it was my understanding that if it was bad I would also have no spark at the coil???

I also thought maybe busted timing belt, you know rotor not rotating...but a quick visual indicated it was on fine and spinning the cam. Is it possible that timing is so far off...although that still wouldn't account for NO Spark after the the distro side of the HT lead????

Anything anyone could offer would be appreciated.

bear

BTW...My brick is an 88 760 turbo sedan.
