Tailgate Window Chrome Trim: How to put it back? 200 1987

The chrome trim in the rubber moulding of my wagon's tailgate window was damaged recently. I obtained a more decent one from another wagon in the salvage yard, but have not figured out a way to put it back in.

The rubber moulding has a slit with the rubber lip going over it; this lip has to get into the mirror image of it in the trim, and all the way around the window.

Have you done this before and do you need some special tool to put it back or just ingenuity? Thanks.
