New mount- tranny still bangs around in the tunnel- only WORSE!! 200 1984

Ok, so upon launching my 242ti from a stop, the tranny would really move around a lot, and bang into the tunnel. Especially if I made the engine lug. So I changed the mount. The mount was almost torn in half. Now that the new one is in, the tranny bangs against the tunnel when:
1)I first start the car
2)I go over a bump
3) I drive in reverse

So, it's WORSE than it was before since the tranny now sits "higher" up in the tunnel, it has less distance to move before hitting.
So, must it be the engine mounts themselves? What else should I check/replace?
Thanks for the help all,
-Kenny
