Derek,
If the speedo itself is working OK But odometer/trip is not, it is almost certainly the odometer drive gears have stripped teeth or are loose on their shafts (a common problem). This can apparently be caused by resetting the trip
while driving.The problem is that the parts seem to be unobtainable anywhere.
I got mine repaired by Speedy Cables 0171 226 9228 they have moved the insrument repair department to Wales but I have lost the address but they should be able to give you the details.
Mine cost £45 to repair which is a lot cheaper than a new unit from Volvo!
This problem is so common that a lot of the cars in scrap yards have faulty units!
