can i get a 'brickboard appraisal' on a '95 960? ready to buy despite rear main leak (crazy?)... 900 1995

hi all. the vehicle in question is a '95 960, 68000 miles. already negotiated a price: $8925 pre-tax and license fees.

it is really quite clean, and the used car dealer (in santa monica (LA), CA) had some work done on the car: new front brake rotors and pads, new rear pads. rear rotors seem healthy. new timing belt. i read the smog test results and it runs very clean. no gunk under the oil fill cap, or on the dipstick. they put the car up on a lift for me, and i checked it all out. seems good, ball joints recent, dry at the rear diff, no terrible-looking or ripped susp. bushings. no apparent coolant leaks.

that's all good. here's the not so good: muffler is sitting on rear suspension as the hangers are broken. and, oh yeah... there is an apparent leak at the rear main. weird, it's hard to tell where it comes down from? the ring gear under the flywheel insection cover is all dry. who cares, it leaks.

how does the price sound?
how much is a rear main gonna cost? $500?

the ride is tight, shifts well, all systems go, for the most part. gonna change the ATF anyway.
what does everyone think?
