Alignment update 900 1992

Ok, just wanted to let you guys know how the alignment went. I went with Firestone – I must say they did a fine job. I explained to them I had recently rebuilt the brick’s front end, and it needed to be straightened up. They said no problem (surprise! No lip.) I also got a great deal on tires – they matched the tirerack.com price! Couldn’t believe it.

Anyway, I knew the Dunlops I had on it were almost toast – really, I did my best to stick with the Dunlop brand for three or four years, but the belts in the tires kept separating (potholes are big in Tx + wife’s car = road hazard warranty is a good idea.) So this time around, thanks to you guys, I was considering Michelins and Pirellis, and was working on a strategy for getting them installed on the cheap. So in the middle of all this, Firestone called and said the car was ready to go, but I might want to consider replacing the front two Dunlops – separated belts. And although I hadn’t yet decided on where/what tire to buy, after a few minutes of negotiation, I went with a set of Firestone SS20s – high performance all season – 55k - 30 day money back period.

I know, they are not Michelins or Pirellis, but they have impressed me thus far. And I must say the brick hasn’t driven, cornered, tracked or braked better in five years. (BTW, I did order front and rear rotors/pads from Groton – I replaced the rears and left the front alone. As soon as I did that, the pulsating in the brake pedal/shifter went away.)

Hope this helps.
