remedies for water woes in 245 interior? 200 1984

After just washing my wagon, I noticed that a good amount of water & leaves seeping into the right rear cargo compartment. Where is this water coming in from? How can I stop it from happening again?

Is it normal after washing a '84 245 TI that water will weep from the smaller seals right below the tailgate window? [ It only happened after I raised the tailgate open to clean the interior.] Is there anyway to prevent this?
