Battery cable replacement? 700 1988

I also own a 88 740 w/b230 and was contacted , as a second owner, about a recall on battery cable(s)which the volvo dealers were doing for free.I never went because I did not want them messing with my brick-BUT just thought I would let others know. this I rec'd in letter form approx 3-4 years ago. DEFINITELY larger cables never smaller. the above may have been calif. cars only-no idea. mark
