Valve adjustments--how crucial are they 300 1988

Valves 1,2, and 3 of my 760 turbo are tight--they have about 10 thousandths of an inch clearance versus the approved 18 thousandths. Might this effect compression to any noticeable degree? I ask because cylinder 4's valves are right on the money and it has 30lbs/sq. in more compression than the others. Or do I just need a valve job? Any help would be appreciated.
