Wierd knock at all RPMS. 200

After adding a used head to my 1990 240, I have gotten a wierd noise from the motor. It seems to make a loud "knock" noise, almost as if something is shaking around in the engine compartments at all speeds. The problem does not seem too serious, because its been going on for the last thousand miles. The motor has plenty of power, but its just really loud.
Well, after having the accident, I am faced with a dilemma. I have this motor, which is in relatively good condition, but I am not so sure if I should yank it from the car and put it in the next volvo I'm buying.
Anyone know what the knock could be? Is it really that detrimental?
