Clutch dead at 100K?? 200 1982

This info:

"M46 is also hard shifting into 1st when the car is stopped. Often have to shift down into second and then thru neutral and into 1st to get it to go in."

often indicates that the clutch is not fully disengaging. Check the free play and adjust as needed. I had one experience with a non-adjustable cable. Every time I got the free play right, it went wrong almost immediately. Turned out that the arm - the one with the cable at one end, throw-out bearing in the middle and pivot at the other end - was actually bending. The mech showed it to me side by side with an new one and it was way gone.

Check also the level of trans fluid. Synchronizers need that fluid to work right.

Good Luck,

Bob
