Hazard switch question. 700 1990

I hooked up a keyless entry system this weekend (my wife loves it) in our 1990 765Ti. The installation was pretty easy, except for the actuator and linkage. However, there was a wire to tap into the parking lights, on volvos there is 2 seperate wires for the parking lights (left and right). My idea was to tap into the hazard switch. In my fumblings there are a couple of power wires colored red, a black ground, a yellow and some more I can't remember. I taped into the yellow since when the switch is activated power runs through the wire. I found out after I tapped the wire with a scotch lock that it didn't activate the lights but the click noise. Does anyone know what wire to tap into for the lights, is this even possible? I will go at it tomorrow anyway just wanted to save some time poking around.
