I NEED SERIOUS HELP! WHY CAN'T ANYBODY FIX MY VOLVO! 200 1990

I have a 1990 240 DL. It starts up and runs fine for about 3 min. After this period, it begins to choke down and run real rough. My local mechanic's comp. showed that the mass air flow sensor and the coolant temp. sensor were bad so he replaced them. $500 later, it still runs the same. So we took it to another mechanic to check to see if it could be the catalytic converter, it wasn't and so everyone is stumped on what the problem could be. Below I have included the parts that have been replaced along with the symptoms.

Symptoms:
Runs for 3 min. then chokes down and runs very rich
stumbles on acceleration
backfires
runs as if it is out of gas

Parts that have been replaced:
air filter
mass air flow sensor(air mass meter)
coolant temp. sensor
thermostat
fuel filter
spark plugs and wires
distributor cap
