first time volvo owner wants to know why when i start car when its cold,it gets all choked up, puffs black smoke, shakes alot, but after it warms up,most symptoms go away except a little black smoke when you step into it, & a mild shake when idling. when i first started it today,(outside temp about 40), while it was violently shaking, i partially removed the big air intake hose from the mouth of the throttle body, shake went away but idle also went up from about 400rpm while shaking, to about 2000rpm with hose partially disconnected. If i take hose most or all the way off, car dies.Air filter is new, no blockage in air box or tube behind grille. Just doesnt seem to be getting proper amt of air to me. Next car has a rumble underneath only on take off (forward or reverse) up to about 5mph then dissapears. Had driveshaft down at local volvo dealer, mechanics said all is well with u-joints and hanger bearing. Motor mounts are good and tranny mount seems good to.All crossmembers and bolts are tight, but driveshaft seems to be tapping floor, and shifter VERY SLIGHTLY moves on take off. I am fairly mechanicly inclined but seem to be out of ideas.Any help can & will be greatly appreciated. Car is a dream other than that.dont need any nightmares. Also email @ jeffrad66@aol.com
