Kickdown cable adjustment 700 1990

I had adjusted the linkage after I cleaned the TB to the recomended tolerance (feeler gauged). When you said loosen it, do you mean the kickdown cable? What do you recomend 1/2 turn, or should I tinker and go 1/8th at a time until I get the desired result. I know the kickdown has a range of correct adjustment and within the range is personal preference.
